Evidence Thus, in the presence of normal levels of CBFbeta, the V7A-M8A and W11A mutants either showed no defect or a modest twofold defect in rescuing virus infectivity compared to WT Vif (Fig. 3c), but in CBFbeta-depleted cells, the same mutants showed significant defects in rescuing virus infectivity (approximately threefold and 4.5-fold, respectively).
