Evidence Interestingly, the classical Vpr mutants S79A and R80A that are attenuated for the induction of G2 arrest (Figure 6C) could still associate with VPRBP and DDB1 at levels comparable with that of the wild-type protein (Figure 6A, compare lane 3 with lanes 5 and 6), suggesting that the association between Vpr and the DDB1-VPRBP complex, per se, is not sufficient to block cell cycle progression.
