Title Occult hepatitis B virus infection in immunized children born to carrier mothers.
Author Yokoyama K,Kumagai H,Takahashi M,Nagashima S,Okamoto H,Yamagata T
Evidence Although no HBV mutations were identified at 1 month of age, an HBV strain with a glycine-to-arginine mutation at residue 145 in the S gene product (G145R) emerged 8 months after vaccinations and four HBIG injections. Finally, the G145R strain, with or without the S132F mutation (Table 2), became predominant at 10 months of age when she exhibited overt HBV infection.
