In patients with HBV genotype C, V5M and P38S substitutions were detected in 0 and 1 of 5 occult HBV carriers, respectively, 1 of 8 (12.5%) occult HBV‐infected HCC patients, and 5 of 12 (41.7%) HBsAg‐positive HCC patients.
