Evidence To test whether a CA-SP1 cleavage defect can cause HIV-1 to trigger innate sensing, we prepared chimeric VSV-G pseudotyped HIV-1 GFP viruses by transfecting 293T cells with varying ratios of WT HIV-1 GFP and HIV-1 GFP with CA-SP1 Gag mutant L363I M367I (Wiegers et al, 1998;Checkley et al, 2010).
