Of these various HBV-mimicking HIV-1 RT mutants, we found that one with triple mutations (HIV-1 RTF115Y/Y116F/Q151M) was suitable for exploring the 3TC/ETV resistant mechanism, since replication-competent HIV-1F115Y/Y116F/Q151M exhibits substantial 3TC/ETV susceptibility, compared with HIV-1Q151M and HIV-1WT.
