Title Association between HBV Pre-S mutations and the intracellular HBV DNAs in HBsAg-positive hepatocellular carcinoma in China.

Evidence The most frequent (>50 %) mutations were located at the X gene, Pre-S and Pre-C. In HBeAg-negative (−) patients, the prevalence of precore G1896A and core A2159G mutants was significantly higher than those in the HBeAg (+) patients (G1896A: 84 vs. 31 %, P = 0.001; A2159G: 45 vs. 17 %, P = 0.004. Fig. 1c).
