HBeAg seroconversion can be defined as a balance point in the battle between HBV and the host immune response. G1896A and the A1762T and G1764A double mutation are the most frequent isolated mutations in the precore and basal core promoter (BCP) regions of the HBV genome isolated from HBeAg-negative patients.
