PMID: 33478415       2021       BMC infectious diseases
Abstract: The most common mutations Y181I/C and K103N, were found in 7 and 9 youths, respectively.
Result: <
Result: K103N and Y181C were the most common TDRMs in NNRTI.

PMID: 33557775       2021       BMC infectious diseases
Discussion: High-level resistance to efavirenz and nevirapine primarily resulted from the mutations K103N, L100I, and P225H.

Identification of novel potent HIV-1 inhibitors by exploiting the tolerant regions of the NNRTIs binding pocket.
PMID: 33567378       2021       European journal of medicinal chemistry
Abstract: Compounds 16a1 and 16b1 turned out to be the most potent inhibitors against WT and mutant HIV-1 strains (L100I, K103N, and E138K), with EC50 values ranging from 0.007 muM to 0.043 muM.

Distribution characteristics of drug resistance mutations of HIV CRF01_AE, CRF07_BC and CRF08_BC from patients under ART in Ganzhou, China.
PMID: 34402512       2021       The Journal of antimicrobial chemotherapy
Abstract: The most common DRMs of these three subtypes were K103N and M184V, while the mutation frequencies of M41L, D67N, K70R, K101E, V106M, Y181C, K219E, H221Y and N348I were obviously different among subtypes.

Transmitted drug resistance among HIV-1 drug-naive patients in Greece.
PMID: 33592343       2021       International journal of infectious diseases
Abstract: The most frequent resistance sites were E138A (9.6%), K103N (6.4%), and K101E (2.1%).

Increased acquired protease inhibitor drug resistance mutations in minor HIV-1 quasispecies from infected patients suspected of failing on national second-line therapy in South Africa.
PMID: 33632139       2021       BMC infectious diseases
Abstract: Several RTI RAMs, such as K65R, M184V or K103N and PI RAM V82A, were identified in < 20% of the population.
Abstract: The majority of the drug resistance mutations in the minor viral quasispecies were observed in the V82A mutation (n = 13) in protease and K65R (n = 5), K103N (n = 7) and M184V (n = 5) in reverse transcriptase.
Result: Most of the DRMs in the minor viral quasispecies were observed in V82A mutation (n = 13) in protease and K65R (n = 5),

HIV-1 Drug Resistance and Genetic Transmission Networks Among MSM Failing Antiretroviral Therapy in South China 2014-2019.
PMID: 34377002       2021       Infection and drug resistance
Result: The major NNRTI DRMs were V179D/E (37.9%, 149/393), V106I/M (25.7%, 101/393), and K103N/Q (25.2%, 99/393) (Table 3).
Table: K103N/Q
Discussion: V106I/M, K103N/Q, G190A/S, and Y181C were the major NNRTI-associated mutations, similar to those in other cities in China and other countries, and showed broad-spectrum resistance possibly caused by the wide use of NNRTIs.

Surveillance of Pretreatment Drug Resistance Among HIV-Infected Children in Ibadan, Nigeria.
PMID: 34074135       2021       AIDS research and human retroviruses
Abstract: Three out of the four mutations were identified as non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors DRM (K103N), whereas the fourth had nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors DRM (M184V).

Temporal Trends in HIV-1 Mutations Used for the Surveillance of Transmitted Drug Resistance.
 PMID: 34064774       2021       Viruses
Result: Four SDRMs increased in prevalence in RTI-naive persons including K103N, V106M, and G190A/E while L100I decreased in prevalence among RTI-naive persons.
Result: The SDRMs with the lowest treated/naive prevalence ratios were G190E (11-fold) and K103N (22-fold).

Nationwide Study of Drug Resistance Mutations in HIV-1 Infected Individuals under Antiretroviral Therapy in Brazil.
PMID: 34069929       2021       International journal of molecular sciences
Result: K103N remained stable in the studied period.
Result: Similarly, all the other 10 most frequent SDRM followed a decreasing trend along the years with the remarkable exception for K65R and K103N (Figure 1).
Result: The most common SDRM (Figure 1, Supplementary Table S2) were the substitutions in RT amino acids M184V (65.53%, n = 13,265), K103N (40.20%, n = 8738), and M41L (17.21%, n = 3480).
